Happy Birthday Kellen Sydney!

Kellen Sydney
October 20, 2009
12:30 pm
7 lbs. 6 oz.
20 inches

We came into the hospital at midnight to be induced but there was an emergency c-section so we didn't actually get started until about 1:30 am. Contractions started getting good at regular around 7am. My dr came in at 8 and broke my water. That is when I really started active labor. I got an epidural at 9:45 am and from that point on felt awesome. He checked me at 10:30 and I was only dialted to a 4-5 so we figured it would be a while. My mom was going to leave around 12:15 to hang out with Payton (our friend was watching him) so my doctor checked to see where I was at. He said "You better not leave or you are going to miss this. Let me dress out and we will have a baby in 5." He came back and said, "Next contraction, you are having a baby. " I pushed twice during the contraction and then he told me to stop pushing and out he came. I was smiling the whole delivery, I seriously felt no pain and I watched him be born. So different then 2+ hours of pushing with Payton. He started crying as soon as he was out and the Doctor gave him an apgar score of 10.

Payton came to visit him about an hour after he was born. At first he was scared to get too close but today he wants to hold him all the time. He will go play and then turn around and say "baby" and come back to take a picture of him or hold him.

38+ weeks

I am over 38 weeks pregnant now and the day of Kellen's arrival is coming up quickly...now if we only knew exactly which day that would be.

38 weeks - I debated about whether or not to even put this up, but oh well!

I know it will be soon because as of Friday, I was 3 1/2 cm and 75% effaced.

House progress is going great. Our contractor said probably 3-4 weeks until we can move in. Sheetrocking is finished and taping and texturing is happening. Siding is also going up today. All of our appliances are in and I think I have most of the stuff ready. I am so excited to see it all put together after planning for so long. Just thinking about the fact in 6 weeks, I will be the mom of 2 boys and we will be in our brand new house makes me so happy.

Payton is very excited about the house and his baby brother and talks about both of them a lot although I am not really sure what he understands about either one of them. He loves going down and looking through "his" house and knows where to go if you ask him to show you his room. He also knows which room is for baby Kellen. He picks up Kellen's clothes and puts them on my stomach and says "baby." But it should be interesting to see what happens when the baby comes to stay with us :)

He loves being outside and the cold weather doesn't seem to bother him. The only time he even complained is when he ran outside after my mom when she was leaving on the morning it snow into the snow with only a diaper on. His excitement turned into screaming pretty quickly. Once he was appropriately clothed however he loved it. This rocking horse I got for Christmas when I was Payton's age. Now that he discovered it he loves it.

He loves bubble baths and when you give him a bath without bubbles he will say "no bubbles" with a sad look on his face.Payton taking pictures of himself in the carThis is Payton's latest game. He uses the frisbee to collect all of the balls in the house while trying to keep them all balanced. It is hilarious when one falls off and he bends over to pick it up because the others will start spilling off as well. He finally figured out if he sets the frisbee down, he can put them all on and pick it up without them spilling. As you can see in this picture and some of the others Payton got his hair cut again. I intended to cut it the same way I cut Gregg's, using the buzzer on the sides and back and scissors on the top, but he got impatient with the blending, so I ended up buzzing the whole thing. I was so sad at first that I cut it so short, but its growing on me. I guess its time for him to look older now that he will be a big brother any day.

Only a few weeks to go!

We expect Kellen to be born this month and as far and I am concerned the sooner the better. I was 3 cm dialated and 50% effaced at my appointment on Friday which is further than I was with Payton when I went in to deliver but I guess that is typical 2nd time around.

This is a week or so ago when it was still nice and we went to the park

Here is the latest house progress. Rough plumbing, electrical and heating is finished and passed inspection, shingles on and insulation being rapped up as we speak. They are planning to put in the window tomorrow and sheetrocking starts later this week.

On Friday we went to the homecoming parade and watched Keaton in the drumline. Payton was really excited especially when the sports teams came by throwing candy. After the parade was over some cars were driving through and a school bus drove by. That was probably his favorite part. He started yelling "Bus! Bus!" It was too cute.

My Grandma sent Payton and Kellen some black hightop converse, so here are a few pictures of Payton on Sunday rocking his converse.
